Christmas Party

Long time no post right? Now that I have something to post to the blog here's a new and updated post:

On Friday, December 21st (that's this Friday) we will not be having practice because we are having the Christmas Party instead! If you are interested in going, it will be at Alyssa's house (that's me) and we will start as soon at around 3 (just because that's when practice starts.). If you want to come a little earlier, that's cool too! I would love to hang with my swim team peeps.

Another note, Clearfield Falcons are invited too! If you guys are reading this (which I doubt you are) I would love for you all to come! I gave your team flyers, and I posted a picture of it to your Facebook page that was entitled "Clearfield High Falcons' swim team."

The Christmas party will be a pot luck and we will be having a White Elephant, so please come with food and a gift. And of course yourselves. Again just to recap:
What? Christmas Party
When? Friday, Dec 21st
Time? In place of practice
Where? Alyssa's house.

To see the flyer, please visit and LIKE your team's Facebook Page. Here's a link to Syracuse's Page:

Meets this week

Hey Swimmers!
We have 2 meets this week! You heard it right, 2 meets! We have a meet on Tuesday (against Weber, @ Weber) and one on Saturday. The one on Saturday is super important, because it's Districts! District is the second most important meet (third if you count state) so we all need to try our hardest and give 110% effort in practice (even though you should be doing that anyways.). Don't worry so much about the meet against Weber, but do with the District meet because it is a meet against the ENTIRE district (us, Clearfield, Layton, Northridge, Woods Cross, Bountiful, Davis) so it will be important. The meet against Weber will be starting at 3, and Districts will be starting at 8AM. The bus will probably leave the school at 6 or 6:30, but that isn't an official time, so I will post to the Facebook wall with the official time.

An Update

Hey all you fab swimmers!

Just a little update this time pertaining to some upcoming events.

First off, we will have a team meeting tomorrow and we will talk about some IMPORTANT stuff. Let me emphasize IMPORTANT! If you don't go, you may not know what you have to accomplish in order to letter. So please come, because you will also be getting a list of all the meets. If you don't swim, still come. If you don't want to just sit there, come at 4:00 and then we will be pretty much done with practice.

On the subject of meets, all the meet dates have been added to the calendar tab. It's up on top of this blog, and will provide you with a complete list of all the meets.

That's all for now, we will post again tomorrow with all the information you need.

Thanks Titans!

Fundraisers

Hey Swimmers!
You haven't yet been informed of this, but I shall inform you before you actually go to practices. You have a fundraiser! And what exactly is this fundraiser you ask? Selling potatoes! You are getting the forms today, and if you need more, you can obtain them with the link posted at the bottom of this post.

We will have two different kinds of potatoes, red and gold, and they will be sold in 50 LBS bags. Each bag will cost $15, and they must be paid for up front. Each of you will need to sell a minimum of 6 bags. You WILL NOT be able to keep ANY of the money that you obtain from selling the potatoes. All money that is earned will be used for SWIM TEAM. Not for you, but for the team. Checks should be made payable to Syracuse High School.

The potatoes will be delievered sometime in the first week of November.

Also, if you missed practice yesterday, you need to contact Coach Nate ASAP. We ordered our suits, and so you need to contact him so we can get that all ordered for you.

Keep up all the great work! Swim your heart out!

Forms and Parent Meeting Update

Thus far, we've had a lot of ups and downs. But I do have some good news now! I think we may have finally got all the bumps worked out of our complicated struggle.

First off, the Parent Meeting will be this coming Wednesday at 6:30 in the auditorium of the school. Both parents and Students are encouraged to come. We will be informing the parents of all that's going to be happening this season, and about all the ways they can contact the coaches. We are also hoping to have some more information on car pooling since I know that for those of you that can't drive, that's a big issue. I hope to put your worries to rest, and hopefully give you a list of people willing to give you rides.

Secondly, I just got done talking to Patches, and we do have all the forms set and ready to go. If you can, print off the forms, fill them out, and turn them in to Patches with a copy of your receipt for your fee. Remember, we have to have that done and in Patches's hands by the end of the school day, on October 15th. If the office people ask where to turn in the paperwork and fee receipt, tell them to stick it in Patches's box.

And just as a reminder, we've been having our Optional Practices, and we have a fantastic team this year. I think we will have an amazing team that will be hard to defeat. It's only the Optional Practices, but I know that we can expect a lot out of our team. If you want to go to those, they occur everyday after school (the announcements were all screwed up, ignore them.) at Clearfield Aquatic Center. We would love to have you come!

That's it for these updates, I will post an update of everything we talk about in the Parent Meeting when it comes, see you later, Titans!

A New Way to Contact Coaches; HROP; Parent Meeting

So we have a bit of news today. Some of it comes as a surprise, but these are good surprises... for the students anyways. This should be kept short. I'll start with a word from Patches.

I previously posted that there would be a parent meeting held on the 12th of October. For certain reasons, this meeting has been cancelled but we are trying to find another day to do that, since it is something that needs to be done.

Secondly, on our news item list, we have a word or two about the HROP (you remember what that stands for, right?) Practices. Coach Nate will be at the pool (Clearfield Aquatic Center) tomorrow right after school! We are unsure if we have to pay, so bring your $3 just in case. You never know what can happen. I'm super excited for them, and to meet all of you, and I hope you are too. If you can't make it (I understand, this is way short notice) then that's all right, just aim for Monday. We'll pretend that you made it these three days, but try to make it Monday. We shall pretend that that is when they "officially" start.

Lastly, I'm stoked about this part, I have a new way for you to contact coaches! This is a service brought to you by google and it is called Google Voice. Is what it is is a free program that allows you to call people, to text people, and when people call or text that number, it will also send your text or call to both coach's phones when you call or text. This means that it is easier for everyone to contact the coach(s) for whatever reason they need to contact them. If you can't text or don't have a phone, then we have an e-mail set up so you can get emails too. The phone number to text or call is below, as well as the email.
Email: syracusetitanswim@gmail.com
Phone: (801)784-8608

PS you can text, but it will just be me (Alyssa) who responds. I will get this information to both coach's and train them how to send out mass texts and then let you know when it's safe to call to talk to the coaches.

PSS I have yet to talk to Patches/Paperwork Coach due to the fact that we both never seem to have enough time to talk. As for the forms, what I have up there right now is all that you'll need. This could still change, so please keep checking back here.

The Swim Team Meeting Held Today (9/6)

So today, as I'm sure many of you know, we had a swim team meeting. Thanks to all of you who came! I felt that it was very productive, and I hope you did too. So here's a recap of everything we talked about if you missed and were curious.

First off, you need to give Coach Neilson the following: Your Phone Number, e-mail, grade, name, and birthday. The reason he needs all of this is so that you will be in our "Meet Manager." If you don't know what that is, don't worry about it. You can do that by texting him all of the info at 801-540-8688. He would rather you text, but calling is okay, but text is more highly preferred.

Next, we talked about the coaching system. As I previously posted, Patches, aka Coach Neilson, is the Paperwork coach. If you have any questions or concerns concerning grades and paperwork, talk to him. Otherwise, Coach Nate (the pool deck coach) can take care of most of it.

This leads us right into the next subject.... the grades. In swim team, we expect you to have high academic achievements. While we cannot kick you off the team is you are at a 3.0 or above, we would like you to be at that standard. We will, however kick you off if your GPA drops below a 2.0.

Because of the delay in the start date of our season we are putting together those Highly Recommended but Optional swim practices. We will be refining/learning strokes, bucket turns, starts, and working on getting our endurance up. The start date for those will be September 17th, but the time has yet to be decided upon. I will update you with further information. Please understand that there will be no coach on deck. This is all up to your captains and other senior swim members. Our coaches cannot be on deck, or form a structured practice, which is the definition of Moratorium.

The next thing we talked about is the Highly Recommended but Optional swim practices. The start date for those will be September 17th, and the time is still to be decided upon. If you want to do those, I need you to fill out this form: (link) and get that done by next Wednesday the 12th.

If you cannot go to the HROP (abbreviated version of the Highly Optional but Recommend Practices) practices for whatever reason. While the HROP practices are free, these options will cost you money. The first option is Masters Class. This is held on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9:00 P.M. and is just lap swimming at Clearfield Aquatic Center. If you're new, there is a coach there that will help you out if you need it. The amount to get in is $3.00 if you're under 18, and $5.00 if you are 18 and up. The next three options are swim teams hosted by cities. The first is CCAT. It's $35 per month, and there is another payment of around $100, and that's paid per year. For more info. call 801-525-2644. Another option is Layton Surfers, and you can find all the information here. And lastly, you can join South Davis's team, Tsunami. For that team's info, click here.

So as for paperwork, the Athletic Code of Conduct HAS BEEN CHANGED! I will update the link on this site to get that all up to date. Also, you need to have your paperwork all DONE and TURNED IN by October 15th and they need to be in Patches's hand(s) by 2:30 that same day. The fee is different this year. I will post an update with that information for you, but make sure you tell the office lady to put it in the "Swim Team Account" and to put a reciept in Patches's box. This too, needs to be done by October 15th at 2:30. For more information, visit the forms page. Please remember that if you do not meet the above requirements or don't fill in the forms correctly, you can't swim. So get it done, and double check (even triple and quadruple check) EVERYTHING.

Here's a task every single one of you needs to do; CONVERT SOMEONE TO SWIMMING! If they are on Cross Country or another sport, tell them that our Coach is willing to work with them, and have them come to this website or like our Facebook page. I will put up a tab especially for you new to swimming.

Please know, too, that if you get in trouble with the law (drugs, drinking, whatever) in or out of season you are suspended from a meet, and upon the second offense, kicked off the team.

The last part to this post will be a parent and Freshman meeting that will be held on Wednesday the twelfth at 6:00 P.M. Please try to be there if you are a Freshman or a parent. Important things will be discussed.

I will update the forms and post more information there, so if you have a question, head over to the forms tab and check it out.

Any questions/comments/concerns I will do my best to answer and/or address. You can email me here.

The OFFICIAL Facebook Page

Some of you may have been a part of, or known about the Titan swimming group. I will no longer be updating things on that page. However, I did create a new Page and you can go and like it at the following link:
https://www.facebook.com/SyracuseTitanSwim

This (new) page I will keep updated, so I would like it. I really want to delete the group, so try to get it done as quick as you can! If you have a Facebook, post the link to you Facebook wall, then we can have more likes, and who doesn't want that?

I will soon work on getting a Twitter and Google+ Page set up. I think that information would then spread rapidly throughout the team.

Short post, right?

Our "Highly Recommended, but Optional Practices"

So, I'm sure you guys saw the post about how the season start date has been delayed, and so we want to do some practices before the season actually starts to be better prepared for the season. These preseason practices have been dubbed the name "Highly Recommended, but Optional Practices." We'll make it abbreviated to HROP. That's easier to type.

Anywho, HROP practices are still being discussed on when they should be held. It all depends on how many of you sign up, and how cooperative the pool is willing to be. If we can get enough people, I'm thinking they may let us do it right after school, but that's only if we get the entire team doing it.

The plan for the practices is pretty simple. We won't be doing a whole lot, but if you are new, I would HIGHLY suggest you come. We intend on working on our stroke, flip-turn and open-turns, and starts. Again, don't get too freaked out if you don't know what those terms mean, we will teach you everything. And since everyone is going to be working on something, it would be a perfect opportunity to get a jump-start on your learning.

All the above being said if you want to come, you can sign up at that meeting after school Thursday. I'll have sign up sheets ready for you. Please DO NOT sign up for them if you aren't going to show up. If you're signing up just to, I don't know, get good tabs with Coach, don't. It will get you horrible tabs. It will also mess with the time that we can go to the pool, and if we can get change. Only sign up if you WILL show up. (If you have to miss a few practices, don't worry about it. If you miss a ton, I'll spam your phone. :) )

First Practice, and First Meet!

Hey guys!

So I have some pretty bad news... our season is starting even later than I had previously thought it would start. Even though school started just a week late, our season is starting an ENTIRE MONTH late. That makes our season even shorter than it regularly would be. We will be able to hold our first official practice on October 22nd, and our first meet November 5th. I wasn't kidding when I said a month late.
What this means is that we are probably going to do "Hell Week." If you don't know what it is, the name says it all. It's a week with BRUTAL practices. If you don't want to have to feel that brutal feeling that Hell Week is famous for, I would suggest going to our Highly Recommended, but still optional, practices. I have no dates for those, but I would seriously go so that when Hell Week does come, you can actually breath

I'll post more information as I find out more, but you now know everything I know! :D

So anyways, don't forget about our fundraiser on Labor Day, I'd love to see everyone there!

Ta Ta for now!

Update on Fourth Period and the RC Willey's Fundraiser

Hello Titans!
I have some news regarding Fourth Period and the RC Willey's Fundraiser.

First off, we will NOT be doing Fourth Period due to the fact that Coach Nate doesn't want to have any "burn-outs" (if you did it last year, you'd know what that is.) and the fact that it would make it easier on everyone if we didn't do it at all. Therefore, all practices will be held after school, and if the team is large enough, or if we have new people join, we might have a few morning practices. But for now, it's just afternoon practices.

Secondly, with the RC Willey's fundraiser, I have some more information. If you didn't read the previous post, it will be on Labor Day, that's September the third, also the day before school starts. Timewise, it will be held from 10A.M. to 3P.M. with about a half hour cleanup afterward (that time may be less, and may be more, we don't know.). Also, RC Willey's would like to have 4-6 kids there, with 2 adults. So if you are available at any point during the time of that fundraiser, please contact Coach Nate. You don't have to be there all day, but try to come for at least part of it, and see if your parent to come with you.

Just as a reminder, we have a swim team meeting for all those who are interested in doing swim team. Whether you're new, or a returning member, we encourage ALL to come. It will be held on September the Sixth, at 2:30 in the auditorium.

Thanks Titans!

PS Coach Nate can be contacted via calling or texting at  801-643-4776.

Fourth Period; Fundraiser News

Well, unfortunately for some of us, and fortunately for others of us, we are going to be doing Fourth Period. Now you guys are probably thinking I'm crazy and wondering, "what do we do the month we can't be in the pool?" Let me explain. The big people in charge of sports set up dates where we CANNOT practice with a coach on the deck. Our first OFFICIAL practice was September 19th and our first meet we were able to hold October 12th. But with the recent change in the start date of school, who knows when we are going to start!

Now that I'm done ranting on that, let's get back to the actual subject. We will be doing Fourth Period, yes it's true, but last year for the preseason games, we went to the pool to run and lift weights and do dryland-ish stuff. This year we may not be doing that. Why? Well, it's simple. We have a track. We have a weight room. We have a gym (2, actually). So why not do it at the school? Coach Nate is going to talk to the principal about it and hopefully, our new principal will let us do that.

On another hand, we have a fundraiser! As you all know very well, we ended up having to pay for a meet last year. We don't want that to happen this year! We want to go to all meets WITHOUT paying for them. So, we have a fundraiser set for September 3rd (yes that's Labor Day) at RC Willey's. We will be the people that are outside selling Hot Dogs. We will be doing this, Monday, September 3rd, from 10-3. So if you can come, please do. We are kind of sort of, lacking a budget, so bring anyone you can to help! (I think bringing people who haven't set foot in a pool as a Titan Swimmer yet is an excellent idea, or if you're reading this and you fall under the "Future Titan Swimmer" category, come!)

I can't wait to see you all at our first fourth period practice! If you want to get back in shape, come to Master's Class at the Clearfield Aquatic Center at 9:00 PM on Tuesday and Thursdays. Madison, Greg, and myself are there, and I think it would be a party if you all came. So see you there!

P.S. I'm planning on talking to the school to see if we can get our schedules changed to include Fourth Period for free. I'll tell you about that at our meeting on September 6th. If you didn't know, there's a meeting in the Auditorium September 6th at 2:30.

Update on the Previous Post with FAQ's

This is word for word from Coach Nate. I'll post my questions to him, and then his answers.

My Questions:
1) I'm guessing there's no new news on captains, but at any rate Captains?
2) Fourth Period? Last I asked you said that if the couselors let us, we were going to do it, is that still true? And what happens if someone wants to do fourth but can't get it in their schedule?
3) If we aren't doing Fourth Period, then when does practice begin?
4) Any meet dates finalized?
And lastly 5) Do we have any assistant coaches?

His Answers:
I have some ideas for captains but if you could help me out and remind me of the returning seniors.
As far as I know there is going to be a fourth period. If someone can't make
fourth period they'll have to come after school.
Yes, I do have meets in place plus a couple others pending.
So far there isn't a deck assistant coach. There is a girl from the "U" who is interested but we can't pay her.

And that's that! Again, any questions for Nate, Facebook him or drop me an E-mail and I will get them answered.

On another note, we will have our first swim team meeting on September 6th at 2:30 in the Auditorium. Can't wait to see you all there, and hopefully there will be some new faces! See you all there! :)

Information for you New to Swimming

I've heard lot's of people saying they want to join swimming, but they are scared to do it because they are so new. But, here's the thing, swimming isn't at all hard! In fact, it can be really easy if you open up your mind to it. But there is some things you should know before you come into swimming, but don't let this scare you out of it, it's a blast. I pinky promise!

The first thing you should know is that EVERYTHING you need to know about swimming will be taught to you while you are there. The only thing you really need to know is a basic knowledge of how to stay afloat in the water, and from there we will help you.

The second thing you should know is that, yes, the practices can be difficult, but the swim team is like a big family, and all of us have a good sense of humor! So while the practices are hard, we always manage to crack good jokes, and they are usually really funny! And we have tons of fun while practicing, as weird as that sounds.

The third thing you need to know is that the practices are going to be SUPER hard when you first start. And the only reason for this is because your out of shape, but the good news is, that it's hard for even the people that have swam since they were freshmen. We all are out of shape and we all struggle together. Even better news, is that from there, it will only get easier.

Practices do take time, but not a ton of time. It is about a six month season, and that's probably the longest season out of all sports, but it is so worth it. The feeling you get when you get out of that pool after a hard workout is rewarding. You get a sense of accomplishment, and there is no better way to earn it. The practices, seriously, are only usually 2-3 hours long, and you have PLENTY of time to do homework, so don't let the length of the practices scare you out of it either.

As far as the place we practice, we go to the Clearfield Aquatic Center to practice. We do have to share the pool with our fellow Falcons, but they have graciously given us our own lanes to practice in and they don't bother us much, so you practice with your own team, and they practice with theirs. Practice occurs Monday-Friday after school, but again, you will have time to do homework, and that's a promise.

For the team activities, we do have a few. The night before a meet day we have what's called a Pasta Party, and those are a blast. Is what happens with those is you go over to a fellow teammates house and pig out on Pasta (not literally, but you get the point). We also have some fun fundraisers that we do as well, one of which is the Boonanza. While you're there, you help little kids play games that we have set up, and you get to dress up in your Halloween Costume, and it's always super fun. Sounds boring, but it is quite fun.

If you have any more questions or concerns please do not hesitate to send me an E-Mail. I'd love to answer any and all questions that you may have.

A quick update

Dang, I've been slacking when it comes to keeping this blog updated! Well, just to let everybody know that this site is still alive, I will repeat what I've been telling everybody else these past few days. I have not recently talked to Coach Nate and so as far as I know everything is still in the same standing as it previously was. So, here's a list of things that I've been asked a lot:

Question: Fourth Period Conditioning?
Answer: Coach once stated that he did want to do Fourth Period, however, I don't even know if there will be such thing as "Fourth Period Conditioning." With the schedules and such still in a constant state of change, it could have been moved to a different period, like sixth, for example. So whether or not we will be doing Fourth Period is beyond me. I will be sure to notify you all by Facebook and Blog when I confirm the existence of such a thing, or if we will be doing some other form of practice.

Question: What about Captains?
Answer: Still no word on those either. Natalie P. is for sure a Captain, as for the other(s), I cannot give names as they have yet to be decided upon. I'm simply the social media manager, so I don't know the full scoop on that.

Question: Who are the Assistant Coaches?
Answer: The last I heard about the Assistant Coaches was clear back in March-ish, so this could be vastly different than what I'm telling you, but what I was told by our paperwork coach, Coach Nielson that we would have a lady in from The U who would be an assistant coach. Mind you, this was a while back, and so tons of things could have changed between now and then.

As far as the questions go, that's the 2 things I've been asked about a lot. I'm getting ready to send Coach an e-mail about all the details of the upcoming year, and if I can get anything new out of it, I will be sure to post it up here. Hang in there guys! The 2012-2013 season is coming fast!

If you have a question, feel free to email me (use this link) and I will be sure to answer it in the post I plan on creating next week.

Captains, Practices, and more!

Hey all you Titans/Future Titans!
I just got done talking to Coach Nate about various things about the upcoming season. The topics discussed were Fourth Period Swim, and Captains. So I'll share what I know.

First off, if you haven't already gone into the fourth period conditioning class, you need to do so. Nate says that if it's available we are going to be doing it. And then I brought up another question. Those that took fourth period knew how brutal fourth period was in addition to having ANOTHER practice after fourth period, so would we be doing that for the fourth perioders or would they have to stay after. The answer is you do have to stay after.

Secondly, I asked him who the captains were. He said he'd let me know when he remembered. He said the only captain he could remember is Natalie P. So congratulations to her!

If any of you guys have questions, please feel free to email me or post something to the Facebook wall, I'd be more than happy to ask Nate all your questions and post the answers up here. You can email me at techienerd01@gmail.com.

Newsflash!

Well, rumors are going around about the coaching status, let me clarify those rumors for you.

First off, we are sad to see Ted Harris go. He was a great coach and will be missed greatly. So if you heard that he quit, that rumor would be TRUE!

Stepping into his shoes will be Nathan Whitaker, our assistant coach from the 2011-2012 season. He won't totally be the head coach, so let me explain. Last year some of the paperwork that the school needed was failed to turn in probably because information that needed to be passed on to Coach Ted wasn't passed along like it should have been. He isn't to blame since he didn't really have that big of a connection to the school. So we will have TWO head coaches! Officer Nielson will be leaving the school next year, it's true, but he will be in charge of all the necessary paperwork and turning it into the office and Coach Nate will be the coach that will be on deck.

Also coming to the team is a new Assistant Coach. Her name I have not obtained yet, but I know she's from the U so she's probably going to be quite the coach. We will have to see if she makes it or not, but we'd like to welcome her to the team.

I'd like to extend an invitation to all the team and all those who want to learn to swim as well, another member on the team and myself are currently attending Master's Class (lap swimming. It really isn't a class, but more of an opportunity to get some laps in) and we'd like to see more of the team come! If you'd like to come and join us, it's at the Clearfield Aquatic Center every Tuesday and Thursday night and begins at 9:00 and ends at 10:30 (we only go until 10:00), and the cost is general admission ($3 if you are anything below 18, $5 if you are 18). Please join us!

This upcoming season is already shaping out to be even better than the last! Just remember to keep recruiting those swim team members so that we can get a bigger team, which will aid in helping us win more meets. It doesn't matter if you know what you are doing or not! If you don't even have a clue what freestyle (the most used stroke) is, or if you are a pro at swimming in general, we'll teach you all the things you need to know about the most fun sport called swimming.

Information About State

Just so that you guys know, we have some people going to state, and that is a very big meet, because it is STATE. All the people that made it there have worked very hard to get to where they are at, so it would be great if all of you came up and supported them! Here's the information that you will need to get in:
  1. State will be held at BYU this year, so it will be in their swimming pool.
  2. The meet is two days long (Feb. 10 and 11), so is what we did last year is rented out some hotel rooms and split the costs up among those who were sharing a room just so that you didn't have to drive there and back twice, and it's fun to be with your team in the wee hours of the morning.
  3. On day 1 of the meet (Friday, Feb. 10), you won't have to miss any school from what I'm aware of. Warm-Ups will start at 4:00 PM, and the meet will begin at 5:00 PM. On day 2, (Saturday, Feb. 11) Warm-Ups will start at 11:00 AM and the meet will begin at 12:00 PM.
  4. There is a cost for spectating. If you are an Adult, then the cost to get in (per day) will be $6.00. If you are a Student (watching your teammates. Bring your Student ID just in case) then the cost will be $4.00. Please do remember that seating is limited, so you should arrive early because there aren't that many seats. If they do sell out, then you will get to watch on live video and you will also get a number. If any seats become available then your number will be called and you can sit in the seat that became available.
I hope to see a lot of my team mates there since I really don't want to be the only one sitting in the stands! Please come, it will be a ton of fun!

Last week of the season (for some)

Hey Titans
I'm sad to say that this week will be the last week of the season for a good portion of our team. We have Regionals this Friday, and we didn't really taper at all. So, if you want to do really well, start cramming in on that tapering stuff even though that's almost IMPOSSIBLE to do. Focus on giving it your all in practice, and being as lazy as possible outside of practice. Also remember that what you put IN your body, is what you will get OUT of it. So eating healthy this week should be a top priority.

Since it's the end of regionals, I have a request for all of you. See if you can't get more people to join the team for next season. Remember, the more people we have, the easier it will be to win over other people. Even if they don't have any previous swimming experience, we can teach them. There is no try outs for swimming, we only ask that you work hard. Another request I will give to each of you, is that you have taken ANY pictures of people in the swim team that is semi relevant to the team, send them to one of our captains so we can include it into the swim banquet video.

The swim banquet, for those that don't know, is pretty much like a last chance to be together with your team. We eat a meal, and give out awards, including your letter if you lettered. We watch a movie with pictures and videos of the past season in it. That is something you definitely don't want to miss out on. I'll give you more details to that when they become available.

The Regions pasta party will be at my house this year (Alyssa's, if you didn't know who I was.). I will give out the invitations and address Thursday in practice. It starts at 6 like usual, so just come over and have some fun at the last pasta party of the year! We do some different things in this pasta party, such as a shaving party, spray paint T-Shirts, last year we gave out gag gifts, but I don't know if we'll be doing that this year or not. So there are a couple of things you'll need to bring. If you'd like to participate in the Shaving Party, you'll need to bring your own razor and shaving cream. If you'd like to make a Spray Paint T-Shirt, the only things you'll need to bring is your t-shirt (or whatever it is you want to spray paint), and a template if you want one. I'll have one of a titan sword, but that's all I'll have.

Well, that's all I have at this point, so I hope to see all of you Juniors, Sophmores, and Freshmen next year, and I hope to see many new faces! It has been a great year, and remember to ALWAYS keep swimming!

This Week

Hey Titans!
I hope you all had a fantastic break and that you swam! Just a heads up we do have a home meet this Thursday against Northridge, so please do remember to swim the entire set that the coaches give to us and don't skip out on any laps, because that will hurt us as a team as well as your times. Let's give it our all in practice so we can get back in shape to be ready for this meet so we can CRUSH Northridge. Anyways, good luck to all on the meet and I hope you all can break your personal records!
